• Jan 1st: Public holiday.

• Holy Week celebrations. Religious celebrations throughout Guanajuato

• International Book Fair of Guanajuato. Books of all kinds and languages are exhibit for sale, plus food and beverage court are available.
• Feasts of San Juan. San Juan, the patron saint of miners, religious festivity with celebrations throughout Guanajuato

JULY

• The Day of the Cave. Festivity celebrated at Guanajuato.

OCTOBER

• Festival Cervantino. For over 30 years, International Cervantino Festival has taken place during October. The festival originated with students presenting skits and plays of writer Miguel de la Cervantes (of Don Quixote fame). A 2-3 week festival attracts actors, artists, musicians and festival-goers from around the world. This is one of Mexico's premier festivals. Remember, reservations should be made months in advance. • Alfeñique Fair of Guanajuato.
• The Sugar Figure Fair. held during the last week of October.

NOVEMBER

• Festival of Lights. Held in the month of November.

DECEMBER

• 16-24 Dec. Las Posadas. Each night the faithful re-enact Joseph and Mary's search for posada (shelter) on their journey to Belen. For the less devout, it's an excuse for a party and reunions.
• Fiesta of the Virgin of Guadalupe. On December 12th, Guadalajara celebrates this traditional Mexican holiday of the Virgin Mary. Dancing, drinking and feasting are all part of the day-long festivities, plus the religious activities.
